THE ADVERTISING STANDARDS AUTHORITY

Today we looked at the website for the ASA which regulates the contents of advertising. We looked at several case studies to study complaints to the ASA and their adjudications.

The TV advert for Coors Light (above) was accused of breaching two codes:
Rascism because of the reggae style of rapping and dancing
Making alcohol seem appealing to under 18s for the over-exaggerated style of dancing, the woman hitting the man with the pillow, the plastic keyboard and the moose in the background.

PREP: Write up what you found in the lesson. Spend an additional 30 minutes on the ASA site investigating another case study that you find interesting and reporting your findings.
