Year 11: MOCK FEEDBACK

Mock Exam feedback: today we go over your Action Adventure exam paper questions 1- 3 and we learn how to improve our standard. Exam technique: less time making notes, more answering the question.

Main points
Q.1: use terminology; identify genre; identify genre conventions; go for convention of combat and conflict; go for heroic protagonist / villainous antagonist.

Q.2: don't waste time on a vague introductory sentence that says nothing; be specific in identifying two examples very precisely and in great detail using correct terminology and explaining their effects; revise how to write about editing. Always explain the effect / impact on the audience / what the technique achieves, creates e.g.tension, excitement, fear, sympathy

Q.3: this is a about the representation of social stereotypes not genre stereotypes (as genre is Q.1). It is worth 20 marks so cover as wide a range of characters as possible. Include places, in this case, the conservative, traditional, apparently peaceful and idyllic small county town of Sandford. Look for counter-stereotypes (people or places turning out to be the opposite of how we would expect).

PREP: create a desk top folder for MEDIA EXAMINER REPORTS. Save Examiner Reports and Past Papers from the OCR website which you can find here by clicking this link.
Study the June 2013 examiner report on your recent mock, that we started in class.

OCR homepage: at the bottom you can see Examiner Reports as well as Past Papers
