Yr 10 SOFT DRINKS ADVERTISING

We research the advertising campaigns of two major brands in the soft drinks industry: Lucozade (in class) and Coca Cola (for prep).

We watch TV Choice video presentation on Lara and Lucozade in which Smith Klein Beecham (owners of Lucozade)  brief Ogilvy and Mather (top advertising agency) about the messages and values of their brand.

PREP You each analyse then present one (different) Coca Cola advertisement.
You worked very well on your recent research into television advertisements, presenting them to the class and analysing:

Who is represented?
How does the representation persuade us to like the product?
Who is the target audience?

Tonight you focus on Coca Cola, its target audience, its brand values (what makes us like the product) and its message (how are we persuaded to buy the product). You watch the advertisement, make notes using the three points to help you talk about it, then present it to the class. You can be as detailed as you wish: don't feel that the three questions are the only points to be made.

There exist 'behind the scenes' making of television commercials on YouTube. Disappointingly, the useful one on the Diet Coke and Duffy commercial has been taken down, but there are others.

TellyAds is another source of vintage and contemporary commercials.
